Hello Artists, and hello potential employers of artists -
This blog will be strictly about the timeline. About the time it takes for myself to receive a (considered finished) piece of art to be used in a commercial way. I feel that these events need to be examined in-depth. The results may inform other potential Clients and Artists of what to expect and whom to avoid.
I think that since emails are exchanged and that communication is paramount between artist and client (and is stressed before payment is made to the artist) I truely believe it is long overdue that I list all communication exchanges in order or expose what has actually happened between Artist and Client.
Of course the artists I am attempting to have art completed by, represent less than one percent of those artists found on this site, regardless, some artists are indirectly damaging the reputation of artists that complete their contracted work and communicate with their client when client has sent the artist(s) an email(s).
It is only these artists that I wish to expose.
You should also be aware that I am being driven to this exposure because of three reasons; the first, of course, is that I am attempting to complete my project, and two, I have been sent several messages from other artists at this site that claim to be tired of their fellow artists that do not get their contracted art completed. Three, I really have nothing to lose at this point.
So about me first. I have completed a sci-fi novel. I have hired 4 artists from this site to complete different pieces, artwork that will be in that novel.
Currently, each artist has only 1 piece to complete.
I have received 1 piece in so far from artificialdesign, his work is outstanding, and he sends me updated sketches so I know of his progress and direction. He is currently working on another piece for the book.
On the next page; I will list all email communications and dates from the first Artist. This will give all that are concerned a clear idea of what to expect when you attempt to have contracted artwork completed.

I stopped watching TV

I decided that there is not much on the TV these days that I am interested in. Instead, I'm reading, writing, listening to music, on this site checking out the fantastic art that is being made and posted. TV cannot compare to this.

Bad feelings about this site

On April 3rd 2012 I sent about 75.00 USD to an artist here that describes himself as professional.
The 75.00 was to develop a character for the front of my novel.
The contract was to pay him an additional 150.00 USD once that novel cover (with the main character) is completed.
It is now May 5th 2012. Over a month has gone by. The artist (from this site) has decided to not respond to any of my emails, or any of my messages to him at this site.
My next posting into my journal will be complete transaction details, where I will reveal the terms of our contract, all communications, and I will post the actual Paypal payment transaction that was made.
It is very strange that this person would do this. It really shines a dark light on the entire Deviant Art community as well as my own opinion and one that I will most certainly share with others.

I know in my heart that the majority of artists at this site do not take money and then stop responding to any communications. But this is exactly what this person has done, and I feel it is my duty to reveal and warn any other person about him.

This is how my government acts

Attention All Artists.
I Thank you for taking an interest in my offer. I have viewed your work, and choosing one of you was the most difficult decision for me because I am so close to the characters in the novel. All of the artwork I viewed from you was nothing short of outstanding.
